Business as Usual

This is unfortunately one of those days where I just don’t know what to talk about. I spent the majority of this evening playing with magic cards, trying to design a new zombie deck. Not sure where it is going and I’ll likely need to run it in simulation on the PC to really get it working properly.

Work has been changing, slowly, little tweaks here and there to better organize the company. I don’t know how I feel about it yet, change tends to be something I approve of and I won’t slap this attempt in the face if it is willing to go the full distance.

I’ve noticed in business that there is quite a lot of superstition. When two things happen at roughly the same time management almost always correlates the two. “Well look at this we saw a 20% rise in population when this event was held.” Well yeah, but we also had a 40% rise in marketing budget. Or “We have lost 300 users since we stopped chatting with players from 5-6 PM.” Well yes that process was stopped but perhaps it is more related to a new IP block that removed an entire country from the demographic.

It’s that secondary point, looking at potential alternatives to the conclusion that is often overlooked. Once a person in power has established what they believe to be the cause of an issue that is the cause of the issue. No other answer can or will be accepted.

That’s all I’ve really got for today, I’m sure this is old news for anyone working in business, but it just happened to be on my mind today.
