Why I don’t work for anything that costs money.

Why I don’t work for anything that costs money.

It’s fairly cold, so I don’t know how long this will be but ultimately it’s a pretty simple concept. A while back I decided that I wouldn’t be putting effort into anything that I’m purchasing. If I can’t get it with a relatively straight forward transaction then I won’t be buying it at all. I didn’t used to be this way, there was a time where I’d stay up late to buy something or just generally inconvenience myself. But recently when we were getting the runaround from a food truck (a story for another day) I realized I’d rather just walk away.

I already worked for the money. Putting in extra effort on top of spending that money is just doubling down on my work life and devaluing my time. That isn’t to say I wouldn’t purchase anything that requires effort to enjoy. Sports, vacations, etc, that all makes sense to me. But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to put effort into making a purchase again. Luckily the majority of places are just looking to trade money for goods or services which is pretty nice. Everyone else that expects money and inconvenience will not be seeing me, however.
